From Hours to Minutes: Trackit is Boosting 3D Scanning Efficiency

If you’ve used a traditional 3D scanner, you already know the tedious process of sticking and peeling off markers across the object's surface. So, you’ll be delighted to hear that there’s a solution that’ll boost your 3D scanning efficiency, liberating you from this time-consuming task forever, and doesn’t cost more than a Cybertruck.

Meet Trackit and Marker-free Scanning

Revopoint Trackit is an optical tracking and blue laser 3D scanning system that significantly enhances scanning efficiency by eliminating the need for markers while maintaining the tight level of volumetric accuracy required for reverse engineering, quality control, and manufacturing.

No More Markers, Here’s Why

When scanning a featureless object with a structured light scanner or any object type using a traditional laser scanner, markers must be placed across the object's surface before starting the scan. These markers serve as tracking points for the scanner, allowing it to stitch the captured point cloud data together.

Unlike traditional scanners, Trackit doesn’t require markers on an object’s surface for accurate scans. It uses a lightweight base station with a dual-camera system that tracks markers on the scanner’s frame. This allows you to move freely around the object and capture all its surface data as long as the base station can see the scanner.

Efficiency that Scales with Size

That depends on the size of the object you're scanning. Trackit can capture objects ranging from 10 mm to 6 meters, and everything in between. Trackit saves you time by eliminating the most time-consuming part of a scan, placing and then removing markers.

Trackit's efficiency becomes starkly apparent as the surface area you need to capture increases, from around 10 to 20 minutes saved on medium-sized objects to potentially hours saved on larger objects, such as cars. It's particularly useful if you need to batch 3D scanning, with the time saved across multiple scans rapidly adding up.

Large Workpiece Scans

For large objects like vehicles or industrial machines, Trackit really shines. Instead of covering them with markers, “leapfrog” the base station around the object. Its maximum tracking area of 2.8 x 2.8 m at 4 m, and the use of anchor points, ensure airtight frame stitching when you leapfrog the base station around the object.

Fast, Reliable Auto Calibration

With Trackit's auto-calibration dual-axis gimbal system, you can complete the entire calibration process in only 25 minutes. Unlike other tracking systems' calibration processes, which can take up to an hour and are prone to errors from the operator, causing issues, Trackit’s automated system eliminates human errors from the calibration process, ensuring the system’s accuracy remains consistently high.

Reliable Accuracy

Of course, great scanning efficiency is nothing without great accuracy. With a volumetric accuracy of 0.025 + 0.04 mm × L (M), Trackit creates highly detailed, accurate models suitable for dimensional inspection in quality control, scan-to-CAD conversion for reverse engineering, or other manufacturing purposes.

Versatile Dual Scanning Modes

Whether scanning small or large objects, you can efficiently capture surface areas using Trackit’s 30 blue laser cross lines to scan them at up to 1.5 million points per second. Furthermore, its powerful single-laser line mode captures deep holes, narrow areas, crevices, etc.

Both modes can scan shiny or dark surfaces without needing scanning spray. And for hidden or hard-to-reach areas not visible to the base station, Trackit can also operate as a handheld scanner using traditional object markers, providing complete scanning coverage from all angles.

Free Feature-laden Software

Trackit comes bundled with Revo Metro, a comprehensive scanning and editing suite designed for professional use. The software gives users fine control over scan settings and provides robust tools for processing, editing, and exporting models in standard 3D formats. Revo Metro’s intuitive interface supports high-quality workflows for users at all levels.

Robust Frame

The scanner’s strong one-piece carbon frame prevents deformation, eliminating accuracy drift caused by shifting markers. Carbon fiber also helps keep the weight low (1.2 kg), making longer scanning sessions more comfortable.

How It Helps You

Trackit’s flexibility with workpiece size, scanning efficiency, and accuracy, as well as its ease of use, make it ideal for optimizing dimensional inspection for quality control workflows, reverse engineering in aerospace, automotive, and mold casting applications, and creating assets for art, design, and XR. The efficiency gains from Trackit accelerate projects and enhance work capacity, enabling you to achieve more with less effort.
